GolfingTips.net Pre-Shot Routine The "Routine" used by almost all professional golfers and better amateurs. It allows for consistent and reflex consideration of the necessary options before striking the ball. It begins with a final review of the Shot Plan and continues through the Address and Forward Press into the swing. The customary steps are to stand behind the ball for more than a few seconds, then confidently to advance on it and take one's stance. The Routine is all in the head and involves thinking about the execution of the shot and the adoption of a mindset to carry it out as planned. The principal ingredient is determination to execute the shot firmly as planned. Here the player might be in error but he will never be in doubt.
